8. Nine new judges, including three women, will be administered the oath of office as judges of the Supreme Court by Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramana.

Three of these nine new judges - Justice Vikram Nath and Justice BV Nagarathna and Justice PS Narasimha - are in line to become the Chief Justice of India.

After nine new judges are sworn in, the strength of the Supreme Court will increase to 33 including the CJI from the sanctioned strength of 34.

10. It was double delight for India in the high jump (T63) event as stars Mariyappan Thangavelu and Sharad Kumar won silver and bronze medals respectively in the finals of the ongoing Tokyo Paralympics.

Mariyappan Thangavelu won the silver medal with a jump of 1.86m. This is her second medal at the Games, having already won a gold medal at Rio 2016. Meanwhile, Sharad Kumar won the bronze medal after securing his season-best mark of 1.83m.
