National Handloom Day: 7 August 2021
National Handloom Day is celebrated every year on 7th August. This day is celebrated to honor the handloom weavers in the country and to promote the small and middle class handloom industry. It was started in the year 2015, after which the seventh National Handloom Day is being celebrated this year.
Khel Ratan Award Name Changed
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday made a big announcement through social media that Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award will now be known as Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award. Khel Ratna Award is the biggest sports award given in India. Till now it was given in the name of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. Now this award will be in the name of former Indian hockey player Major Dhyan Chand.
James Anderson became the third highest wicket-taker in Test cricket
England fast bowler James Anderson has become the third highest wicket-taker in Test cricket, surpassing India's Anil Kumble. In this list, Muttiah Muralitharan is at number one and Shane Warne is at number two.

Gogra Patrolling Point - 17A India-China army retreated
In line with the recent talks of Corps Commander Sastar in the direction of reducing tension between India and China, the soldiers of both the countries have withdrawn from Gogra patrolling point 17A.
As a result of the 12th round of military talks between India and China on Saturday, both sides agreed to withdraw troops from the Gogra area in eastern Ladakh.
KP Sharma Oli reappointed Prime Minister of Nepal
Nepal's President Bidya Devi Bhandari has re-appointed KP Sharma Oli as Nepal's Prime Minister after opposition parties failed to secure a majority to form the next government. President Vidya Devi Bhandari re-appointed Oli as Prime Minister as the leader of the largest political party in the House of Representatives in accordance with Article 78(3) of the Constitution of Nepal.
Vaccination figure in the country crosses 50 crores
According to the Ministry of Health, the number of vaccinations against covid-19 in the country has crossed the 50 crore mark. On this achievement, PM Narendra Modi congratulated the countrymen, while Union Home Minister Amit Shah has called it a new record.
India to conduct military exercises with China and Pakistan
Indian soldiers, along with soldiers from China and Pakistan, are set to participate in a major anti-terrorism exercise of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Russia. The aim of this military exercise is to expand cooperation to deal with the growing menace of terrorism and extremism.
The peace mission exercise is conducted for the member states as per the initiative of Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Peace Mission-2021 is a counter-terrorism command and staff exercise by member states. More than 3000 soldiers are expected to participate in this exercise. The Indian Army, along with the Chinese People's Liberation Army and the Pakistan Army, will conduct aerial reconnaissance and security facilities during the exercise. This joint exercise will be conducted by the Central Military Commission of Russia from September 11 to 25 at the Donguzsky training ground in the Orenburg region of the Urals. SCO was established in 2001 in Shanghai. In which China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan were its founding members. Then India and Pakistan became its members.
