Naga Battalion will go to Russia to participate in multinational exercise

Answer: 200 soldiers of the Naga Battalion of the Indian Army will participate in the multinational exercise Japad to be held in Nizhny, Russia from September 3 to 16. More than a dozen countries from the Eurasian and South Asian region will participate as observers in this exercise.

Japad-21 is one of the theater level exercises of the Russian Armed Forces and will primarily focus on operations against terrorists. The Naga Battalion participating in the exercise from the Indian Army will have an All Arms Combined Task Force.

The aim of the exercise is to enhance military and strategic ties between the participating countries. The Indian contingent has been put through a rigorous training program covering all aspects of conventional operations including mechanized, aerial and heliborne, counter-terrorism, combat conditioning and firing.


Allahabad High Court asks Center to declare cow as national animal

Answer: The Allahabad High Court has said in an important decision that the cow has an important place in Indian culture. Cow is known as mother in the country of India and is worshiped like deities, hence cow should be given the status of national animal. The court said that the protection of the cow should be included in the fundamental right of the Hindus. Article 48 of the Constitution of India also states that the cow shall protect the breed and prohibit the slaughter of cows including milch main animals. Cow slaughter is banned in 24 out of 28 states of India.

The High Court has brought a bill in the Parliament to declare the cow as the national animal by including it in the fundamental right and make strict laws against those who harm the cows.

JB Mohapatra appointed as the Chairman of CBDT

Answer: JB Mohapatra, a senior Indian Revenue Service officer, has been appointed as the chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT).

Apart from this, the Ministry of Home Affairs has appointed IPS Rajwinder Singh Bhatti as ADG of BSF. Bhatti is a 1990 batch IPS officer. He will be on deputation to the Border Security Force till 30 September 2025 or till further orders.
